Getting married in winter? Yes, I want it !
Reservation
As the vast majority of weddings take place in the summer, it is often a real headache to find a date where the room, the DJ and the catering service are all available. Winter is low season. Consequently, a greater choice of services and availability will be available to you. Plus, the rates will generally be lower or, at least, it will be easier for you to negotiate.
Please note: When reserving your room, make sure that it has sufficient capacity to comfortably accommodate all your guests. As it's winter, there's no question of having an aperitif outside!
Guests
The summer period is often very busy for everyone: construction holidays, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, Canada Day, in addition to numerous BBQ dinners and camping getaways... that's a lot of activities! In contrast, the winter season is generally calmer. Unless you have a family of professional skiers, you'll be more likely to have all your guests attend your wedding during the winter! And if your family loves hitting the slopes, why not get married in the mountains?
Menu
There’s no need to invent a whole new menu for a winter wedding. Just adapt it; opt for a soup or a hot starter rather than a salad, swap the traditional candy bar for a coffee or hot chocolate bar. For a touch of humor, offer slippers to your guests when it's time to hit the dance floor!
Temperature
Summer and winter, we cannot control the rain, snow or high winds. Why would we deprive ourselves of a superb snow-white landscape that naturally reflects light? Accessories like a shawl, a fur coat or cute little gloves will keep you warm and add a nice personalized touch to your photos.
In the event that Mother Nature is really not on your side, you will need to provide a setting or an indoor space to take your photos. Besides, a small downside: plan a photo session early in the day, as the sun sets early during the winter!
Decor
The winter theme is simple to achieve because it prioritizes the use of natural materials as decorative elements. Centerpieces made from wooden branches, place cards decorated with pine cones, garlands and candles, etc. We are looking for a refined and cozy atmosphere.
If the seasonal theme doesn't inspire you, nothing is stopping you from creating a colorful atmosphere! The contrast with the snow will be breathtaking.
There is also a very wide variety of flowers available during cold weather. Consult your local florist for the most original bouquet!
